Adjutants operate at Union Central on Earth, where they report to the Admirals. They wear a grey uniform typical of a civilian uniform with purple shoulder and neck patches consistent with admiralty. Adjutants have no epaulet signifying their rank, if they have one, though they do wear a Command badge.[1]

Just prior to the Battle of Earth, an adjutant reported to Admiral Tom Halsey on Earth, informing him that a Priority One communinque had been received from the USS Orville, warning the Planetary Union that the ship had been taken over by a Kaylon fleet headed for Earth. In response to this news, Halsey ordered the adjutant to recall the entire Union Fleet to Earth.
