Aki was an Okudum farmer from the fourth planet of HR 5070.
Life[]
Aki was born into a farming family on an unnamed planet.[1]
As a child, Aki was friends with Talla Keyali, a Planetary Union officer who secretly posed as a traveling Okudum to study the species. Aki read Talla the story of Xandia, a legendary farm girl who freed the Okudum from a military.[1]
Four years later in 2420, the technologically superior Nazh arrived at the planet. They enslaved the Okudum and forced them to mine dysonium by hand.[1]
Talla revisted the Okudum in 2421 and rescued Aki, now an adult, from two harassing Nazh. Aki reintroduced Talla to her home and to her ailing father, sickened from exposure to dysonium ore. She gave Talla her book on Xandia, saying, "It's for kids. I don't need it anymore."[1]
Later, two Nazh came for Aki's father. When she attempted to stop them, one of the men knocked her down and nearly killed her, but Talla - dressed as Xandia - intervened.[1]
Production[]
Artist David Cabeza has posted his designs for Aki to his Twitter. Because the character appears as both a child and an adult, Cabeza prepared two versions: Aki as a 12-year-old girl, and as a teenager. He gave her four forehead ridges (two on each side above the eyebrows) to closely resemble a Xelayan. Her clothing was inspired by "African motifs."[2]
