Baral is a child who the USS Orville frees from the Calivon zoo in October 2419.
History[]
After Captain Ed Mercer and Commander Kelly Grayson are ensnared by the Calivon as attractions in their zoo, Lurenek introduces them to the other residents, including Baral who shows noticeable fear and discomfort being held in the cell without his family. Kelly feeling sympathy for the child attempts to comfort him as best she can.
Acting Captain Alara Kitan and Isaac successfully barter for the Captain and Commander's freedom. However, both insist Baral should come with them and be returned to his homeworld soon enough via the Orville.

Baral was designed by KNB EFX artist John Wheaton. Wheaton's concept art and test photography are reprinted in The World of the Orville.[1]
Trivia[]
- Though Baral says his name aloud in the episode, he is listed only as "Greenish Alien" in the episode credits and, in The World of the Orville, he is identified only as "one of the zoo's other alien inhabitants."[1] Fortunately, the spelling of the character's name is confirmed by Hurlbert's acting resume and in the episode subtitles.
