This page is for all writers of the The Orville.
Members of the writing staff typically hold one or several alternative titles on the show such as executive producer, co-executive producer, or more exotic roles such as science adviser
- Most episodes are written by Seth MacFarlane, the creator and showrunner of The Orville. MacFarlane also closely monitors the development of scripts by other writers.
- Executive producer David A. Goodman wrote the episodes Krill, Deflectors, and The Road Not Taken.
- Three episodes were jointly written by executive producer Brannon Braga and science adviser André Bormanis: Into the Fold, Nothing Left on Earth Excepting Fishes, and Identity, Pt. 1.
- Co-executive producer Cherry Chevapravatdumrong wrote the episodes Firestorm and Home.
Two members of the writing staff penned scripts for Season 1 before leaving for other roles or leaving the show altogether:
- Cupid's Dagger was written by Liz Heldens, who was an executive producer at the time in Season 1. Heldens was retained as a consultant to the show after Season 1.
- Primal Urges was written during the production of Season 1 by Wellesley Wild, who was a co-executive producer at that time. Wild left the show before Season 2 to lead production of the show Animaniacs!
Several writers joined for Season 2, effectively replacing Heldens and Wild:
- Joe Menosky joined as co-executive producer and wrote the episode Sanctuary.
- Janet Lin joined as co-executive producer and wrote the episode Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.
