Epsilon 2 is an outpost devoted exclusively to scientific inquiry."đâšī¸â Ed Mercer, Bortus and Gordon Malloy[1]
"Researchers from all over the galaxy petition to work there."
"Really? Wow. Any good bars?
Epsilon 2 was a planet and research colony of the Planetary Union. The planet's only colony station was the Epsilon Science Station where cutting-edge scientific research was conducted.
The planet had two orbiting moons.[2]
Description[]
Epsilon 2 sat on the frontier of Union space, abutting the territory of the Krill. Some time before 2418, the Union established the world as a scientific colony, hosting the famed Epsilon Science Station. Epsilon 2 quickly gained the reputation as a place where researches may work unfettered by the expectations of planetary governments.[3]
Trivia[]
- Second Officer Bortus reported that Epsilon 2 had no bars or strip clubs.[3]
- The planet was the setting for the Battle of Epsilon 2 in September 2419.[3]
- According to Navigator John LaMarr, it takes the Orville 19 hours, 51 minutes minutes to get to Epsilon 2 from Earth.[3]
- If that amount of time was calculated based on the Orville's maximum speed of ten light years per hour,[4] Epsilon 2 and Earth are 190.85 light years apart.
- A running joke in The Orville comics is to sneak an image of Epsilon 2 on bridge console screens:
- Behind Isaac as he performs his analysis of the magnetar in New Beginnings, Pt. 1.
- Behind Isaac as he estimates the time to return to Union space in The Word of Avis, Pt. 2.
- On a bridge console screen to the left of Captain Mosley on the USS Wilson in Heroes, Pt. 1.
- Next to Isaac as he discussed failed Planetary Union missions to the Cruxis system in Artifacts, Pt. 1.
