Fuzzy Door Productions is the production company for all live-action and animated television projects helmed by Seth MacFarlane. It is the primary production company for The Orville along with 20th Television.

MacFarlane serves as its current Chief Executive Officer. Jason Clark served as its President for Season 1 of The Orville, and Erica Huggins for Season 2.

History

Fuzzy Door Productions was founded in 1998 by MacFarlane during the creation of the long running animated series Family Guy. The logo was designed by Cory Books, a friend and, at the time, housemate of MacFarlane's.

Since then, Fuzzy Door has worked alongside Fox on a number of Seth MacFarlane-produced shows, including Cosmos: A Space Odyssey, American Dad!, and The Cleveland Show, and the movie A Million Ways to Die in the West.

The Orville

Fuzzy Door Productions alongside Fox Television are the main production companies responsible for the creation and broadcasting of The Orville. Jason Clark served as President of Fuzzy Door for The Orville's first season before moving to the show as an executive producer.

Erica Huggins took over as President in Season 2. In April 2019, Huggins commented on working with Seth MacFarlane:

The best way to describe the kind of genius that Seth has is that he sees it in the full picture. It’s kind of a complete sensory way of approaching a piece of material. I’ve been around long enough to see other people work. I’ve never seen anything like this.

Trivia

• The name derives from a leopard-skin print that was stapled to the door of MacFarlane's apartment building at the Rhode Island School of Design.
• Julia Nichols Hodges works as assistant to the executive producer at Fuzzy Door and also works on The Orville.
