Galdus Harona was an associate professor at the University of Xenara Medical School and the son and only child of Cambis and Floratta Borrin.
Galdus was best known in the scientific community as a medical researcher and "a very outspoken opponent of the Mellara vaccine."[1]
Galdus died in 2419 by suicide after much of his work tying the Mellara vaccine to Torin's syndrome in children was discredited.
Life, career, and death[]
Galdus was born in either the last week of August or sometime in September 2390 to Cambis and Floratta Borrin.[2]
Galdus began teaching at the University of Xenara Medical School at the prodigious age of 21. Floratta later stated that he loved the beautiful campus.[1]
"A few years" before his death,[3] Galdus published research linking the Mellara vaccine to Torin's syndrome in children, and "was on the verge of becoming a household name for exposing the dangers, for protecting the children."[4]
Professor Ildis Kitan published a paper criticizing the "flawed" and "incomplete" methodology of Galdus' work, "ruining" Galdus' reputation.[1] Galdus became despondent and depressed, and took his own life several years later at the age of 29 in 2419.
Personality[]
While alive, Galdus rarely left his studies to visit his parents.
Cambis states that Galdus is serious, "doesn't really like to be the center of attention except when he's teaching," and "isn't a birthday kind of guy."[3]
Trivia[]
- Xelayan families seem to take the surname of one's parents (e.g., Alara and Solana Kitan received their last name from Ildis and Drenala Kitan), but Galdus Harona seems to be an exception to this rule.

- ↑ In Home, Cambis Borrin states that his son just turned 30 while speaking as if he is still alive. Note also that because the episode Home takes place in September 2420, Galdus Harona must have been born in August or September because Cambis says that his birthday was "just last week."
