Gary Rake is an American director who was first unit director for many episodes of The Orville. He directed the episodes Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and The Road Not Taken in Season 2.

Rake was first unit director for the Season 1 episodes Old Wounds, Command Performance, Pria, Majority Rule, Cupid's Dagger, New Dimensions, and Mad Idolatry.
In Season 2, Rake worked on Ja'loja, Nothing Left on Earth Excepting Fishes, All the World is Birthday Cake, A Happy Refrain, Deflectors, Identity, Pt. 1 and Pt. 2, Lasting Impressions, and Sanctuary.
Rake first directed the episode Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, an experience he described as "a real labor of love. Very technical and tedious but the result was very satisfying."[1] Rake was publicly announced by Seth MacFarlane only hours before the episode's premiere.[2]
Rake also directed its follow-up, and the Season 2 finale, The Road Not Taken.
