Groogen was a Katrudian and an old friend of Cassius.

Life

Groogen stated that he had been friends with Cassius since his children were in his biohistory class on Antares 2. He recalled owing Cassius two favors from that period.

In January 2421, Groogen arrived with a botanical team aboard the USS Orville where Cassius had been working as a classroom teacher.

After Cassius' girlfriend, Kelly Grayson, ended their relationship, Groogen appeared in her quarters and pleaded with her to give Cassius another chance. Kelly told Groogen that her personal life was none of his business and Security Chief Talla Keyali removed him.

Personality

Groogen is gregarious and lively, but offended by being called an "it" rather than a "he."

Groogen is opinionated and blunt as well. Even after Kelly says her personal life is none of his business, he responds, "No offense but fire your decorator."

Groogen is a surprise cameo by Bruce Willis.

Groogen was designed and digitally created by visual effects artist Taylor Faulkinberry. An alternate, unused concept drawing of Groogen had snail-like eyes and a small mouth.
