Jeffrey Tambor is an American actor on The Orville. He is best known for portraying Hank Kingsley on The Larry King Show and George Bluth, Sr. on Arrested Development. In the episode Command Performance, he cameos as Captain Ed Mercer's father, Bert Mercer.
Background[]
Tambor studied acting at San Francisco State University, and later received a masters from Wayne State University. After matriculation, he performed in theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, until hired for the Broadway production of Sly Fox in 1976.
Tambor soon began appearing in television commercials and guest starring on shows. He eventually landed a permanent role as Hank Kingsley, the narcissistic side-kick of Larry King on The Larry King Show.
In 2003, Tambor played George Bluth, Sr. on the critically acclaimed comedy Arrested Development.
The Orville[]
Creator Seth MacFarlane revealed at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con that Tambor would appear on The Orville.[1]
