Robert Duncan McNeill is a director on The Orville, directing the episode Command Performance.

McNeill attended Julliard School for two years studying acting. While attending, he got his first break as Charlie Brent on the show All My Children. McNeill continued acting through the 1980s and 1990s, eventually landing the role of Helmsman Tom Paris on Star Trek: Voyager, now considered his best known role. He also appeared as Nicholas Locarno in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode The First Duty.
McNeill began his directing career with Voyager, directing several episodes, and now focuses on directing instead of acting. He was offered a chance to direct an episode of Star Trek: Discovery, but declined in favor of The Orville.
