Rop was a Chog elder, famous as the last living Chog from the generation that encountered the crew of the Burton in the early 24th century.
In June 2420, when Rop was 107 years old, the Planetary Union moved all Chogs to another planet while their world was to be terraformed.
Life[]
Rop was born in the year 2313 to a large Chog family in a small village. Some time between then and 2320, the BCV Burton of the Planetary Union crashed on the planet and leaked poisonous quantum reactor material. All plant life and nearly all animal life died. Rop later recalls of that time, "I was very young. Much of my family died then."
Ensign Hodges, leader of the survivors of the Burton, brought the remaining Chogs, including Rop's family, to the Burton. They repaired the vessel and provided the Chogs with food from the Food Synthesizer and protection from the Particle Beam Cannon.
For the rest of his life, Rop lived in a tent beside the Burton, never to return to the childhood home he abandoned, and slowly forgot the human survivors of the Burton.
Rop met new humans in 2420 when Captain Ed Mercer and Helmsman Gordon Malloy were brought before him.
Several days later, the USS Ulysses removed Rop and the remaining Chogs to another planet while their homeworld was terraformed. He was expected to return in 2423.
