Time capsule

Doctor Sherman and the senior staff of the Orville admire the time capsule.

A find of this type is always thrilling in this day and age.— Doctor Sherman[1]

The time capsule of Saratoga Springs was a historic cache of goods buried by the citizens of Saratoga Springs, New York on July 21, 2015 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the community's incorporation as a city and to communicate with people of the future.

In early 2421, archaeologists excavating at dig sites north of Albany, New York on Earth discovered the time capsule. The capsule and its contents were taken by Doctor Sherman and the USS Orville to the Delta Pavonis Museum on a planet orbiting the star Delta Pavonis, where they were held as of April 2421.

Description[]

The capsule was a metal cylinder with a plaque that reads:

On July 21, 2015 this time capsule was dedicated to the people of Saratoga Springs, New York in celebration of the city's centennial. Sealed within is a collection of items that represent it's [sic] people and the era in which they lived.

Only one name associated with the time capsule is known: Laura Huggins, a long-time resident of the city who donated her own phone to the project. In Laura's own words, "some people in my town had this idea to make a time capsule and I thought this was a really cool thing to do." When Laura bought a new iPhone, she decided to inter her old iPhone with the capsule along with its text messages, photographs, and videos.
