Tharl was a Lieutenant and interim Chief of Security aboard the USS Orville in the fall of 2420.
Career[]
The ship Tharl was originally stationed upon, an unidentified Science-class vessel.
Tharl previously worked as a security chief on a Science-class vessel under a captain who, by his own description, had a "professional boner" for him.[2] First Officer Kelly Grayson noted that his professional references were "terrific."[2]
From September to about October 2420, Tharl temporarily replaced Alara Kitan as Chief of Security on the Orville, succeeded by Talla Keyali shortly afterwards.[2]
Tharl worked aboard the Orville during its trip to Xelaya[2] and during a supply mission to Epsilon 5.[3]
Personality[]
Despite his excellent qualifications, Tharl had an unprofessional personality which others found grating. "He does not stop talking and he makes loud noises when he consumes food. He comes to the Mess Hall wearing sandals," Second Officer Bortus told Kelly.[3] She'd admitted that Tharl drove her "crazy" and Bortus commented that many other officers on the Orville shared his opinion.[3]
Tharl's species had a very fast metabolism and for that reason he often consumed meals while working on the Bridge - much to the chagrin of his fellow crew mates.
