History

The Druyan comes under attack from a Krill destroyer and sends an emergency distress message to the USS Orville. Second Officer Bortus, as acting captain at the time, responds, and attacks and defeats the Krill warship, saving the Druyan.

Trivia

• The ship is named after Ann Druyan, who worked with Seth MacFarlane on Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey as creator, producer, and writer.
  • MacFarlane frequently consults with Druyan on questions of science for The Orville. "Sometimes I walk across the hall to [her] office. Technically not a scientist, but my God she talks like one."
