The USS Roosevelt was a Science-class vessel of the Planetary Union. In 2420, its Commanding Officer was Captain Marcos. The Roosevelt was destroyed by Kaylon Fleet heading to Earth.
History[]
Around the turn of the year 2420, the Roosevelt was commanded by Captain Marcos when they detected the USS Orville, commanded by Captain Ed Mercer, flying through Planetary Union space with the Kaylon Fleet. Intercepting the Orville, Marcos made contact with Captain Mercer, who he knew from Union Point. Mercer claims that his ship was escorting the Kaylon ambassadorial delegation to Earth after they decided to join the Planetary Union. However, Mercer ends the communication with the offer of a "13-button salute", a Union code phrase which signals to Marcos that a hostile force, in this case the Kaylon, has seized control, and that Union Central must be notified. Kaylon Primary, however, is well aware that Captain Mercer is attempting to deceive him and, as the Roosevelt changes course, orders Spheres 29 and 31 to target and destroy the ship. The Kaylon vessels proceed, and the Roosevelt is destroyed with all hands in a matter of seconds.[1]

The Roosevelt bridge is a reuse of that of the USS Orville, which later stands in as the bridge of the USS Spruance.

- Barring the destruction of the simulated USS Orville in Episode 1x10: Firestorm, the Roosevelt is the first Union ship to be destroyed on-screen, closely followed by the numerous vessels lost during the Battle of Earth.
