Viewers are the optical and visual devices and screens used aboard starships. First and foremost, a main viewing screen is located on starship bridges as well as outposts.
As recalled by Admiral Tom Halsey, Gordon Malloy once drew a penis on the main viewing screen of outpost T85.[1]
For Commander Kelly Grayson and Lieutenant Commander Bortus' joint birthday party, Lieutenants Malloy and John LaMarr create a humorous animation of the two which is displayed on the Orville's main viewer.[2]
The viewer had the option to pull up an aft view, showing what was happening behind the vessel.[3]
Production[]
The Orville's bridge viewer is in fact a large television monitor that displays what actors would see as their characters.[4]
Trivia[]
- The term "viewscreen", commonly used in Star Trek, is used to refer to the Orville's bridge viewer in the original script for Old Wounds. However, it has yet to appear on-screen.
